Adults

Peak Behavioral is here for you.

Peak Behavioral’s acute inpatient psychiatric services are designed to provide intensive, short-term care for individuals who are experiencing severe symptoms of mental illness or emotional distress. The goal is to stabilize patients who are in crisis and require immediate intervention.

During acute inpatient psychiatric services, patients receive 24-hour care from a team of mental health professionals, including psychiatrists, physicians, nurse practitioners, therapists, nurses, mental health technicians and others. Treatment typically includes a combination of medication management, individual and group therapy, and other supportive services.

Partial Hospitalization Program

The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is designed for adults and adolescents (ages 12-17) with primary psychiatric disorders who require intensive support and structure but not 24-hour inpatient care.

The program provides support and treatment for adults facing emotional or mental difficulties, and who may have substance abuse problems. Partial hospitalization is an outpatient program for the diagnosis and/or active treatment of a serious mental disorder in a consistent, structured environment that allows patients to maintain their usual living arrangements with their families.

A PHP can function as a “step down” from hospitalization or a “step up” when outpatient treatment is not effectively meeting the patient’s needs. It is also a good transition from inpatient to outpatient care.

The level of care provided in a PHP is necessary to maintain the patient’s progress and prevent relapse or readmission to the hospital.

PHP is designed for those who do not require the intensity of a hospital setting but are still having some emotional or behavioral issues that need to be addressed more intensely than what can be provided in a traditional outpatient setting.

Adults in this program meet from 8:30am – 1:00pm 5 days a week, Monday – Friday,  Treatment is usually from one to three weeks, depending on the person’s progress.

Transportation is provided to those who may need assistance.

Intensive Outpatient Program

Sometimes called “Outpatient Day Treatment” or “Part-Time Treatment,” the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides a therapeutic, structured environment while allowing patients to maintain a work-life balance.

Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is also called Day Treatment. It provides further stabilization in a therapeutic environment for clients who do not require the structure of a full-day program like our PHP.

IOP is for adults seeking seeking further stabilization in a therapeutic environment who do not require the structure of a full-day program like our PHP. While continuing to live at home, patients are able to gain extra support in their daily lives by working on their psychiatric and substance abuse concerns.

Adults in this program meet three days per week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Patients attend IOP for 3 hours a day, giving them greater flexibility to manage other commitments with their families, work or other treatment professionals.

  • Group therapy settings
  • Continued physician oversight
  • The patient lives at home and attends the outpatient center during the day
  • Further stabilization and transition back into productive activities at home, at work, and in the community

Assertive Community Treatment

The mission of the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is to help people become independent and integrate into the community as they experience recovery.

Participants must be 18 years of age or older and reside in Dona Ana County. Admitting criteria includes a diagnosis of a severe mental illness, such as schizophrenia, bipolar 1 disorder, or a related psychiatric disorder.

Duration of treatment is dependent upon the needs of the client and has no prescribed length  or limitation.

Treatment is provided in-place, meaning where the client currently resides. A housing support specialist is on staff to assist in finding permanent housing if needed.

Referrals can be made by hospitals, medical providers, mental health professionals, law enforcement/first responders, and family. Self-referrals are also accepted.
